Liwanag (Light) Baybayin Calligraphy Commissioned

My brother is one of the most gloomy people I know. He literally worries about a lot of things, but this gloomy persona is a so much a part of his charm, it's hard to imagine him otherwise.

So it's a huge sigh of relief and surprise when he asked me to make him a baybayin calligraphy for "liwanag", the Filipino word for light.

Baybayin is the ancient, pre-colonial form of writing used by Filipinos. Baybayin is a dying form of writing and art since this was usually written on the barks and leaves of trees. Making some calligraphy art in baybayin is our way of getting in touch with our roots and trying to keep it alive. The more people learn about this form of writing, the more chances of this being kept alive.
