Tala Baybayin Calligraphy Tattoo Design (Original)

I resolved to ink only my designs on my body, so when I decided I wanted a baybayin ink, I went right ahead and designed one. This is my original baybayin design for Tala. I've always loved that word and I intend on naming that for my daughter in the future.

I decided to make a baybayin version of the word for stars since I figured that I didn't want to have the illustration of actual stars on my body. Also, Tala is a uniquely Filipino word and using Baybayin is a nod to my heritage as a Filipina. I want others to see how beautiful our culture is while expressing myself through the ink I've designed for myself.

Babayin is the traditional writing system of the pre-colonial Filipinos. It is a dying form of writing because it is usually written on leaves and barks. Fortunately, several Filipinos are proudly taking pride in using Baybayin as a form of writing, art and expression. The more people learn about the language, the lesser the chances of that language being forgotten. It is identifies wrongly as alibata.

This script was done in calligraphy style. It's what I intend to ink on my body and will soon be inked this February. Please don't copy this tattoo. I'm posting this here for collection and portfolio purposes. Please don't try to copy this because this will soon be inked. Thank you.
